While captain Bill, (the owner) met us at the boat to get our money, he did not take us out. Instead he had one of his employees (Bob) captain the boat. Bob was friendly enough. The mate on the ship (Tim) was efficient but not at all personable. He made us feel like we were annoying tourists and he was a local. (we live near and are not tourists). We went on the 4 hour trip and we thought we would be fishing for Bonita, grouper, spanish mackerel, barracuda and snapper, but we spent the entire 4 hour trip trolling for mackerel and nothing else, they never even changed lures. We did catch a ton of mackerel though. The mate seemed pretty strict about not touching the poles until he first would grab the pole when there was a hit. He would then give it to and make you reel it in while sitting down in a chair. That took a lot of the fun out of fishing... it was more ordered sitting and reeling. When you are only catching 1-3 pound mackerel, it was a bit overkill and not terribly fun. lighter equipment would have at least allowed the fish to fight more too.

Overall it was not a great trip and it was not a horrible trip either. The boat is big and clean. We felt a bit mislead about what we were going to fish for and who would captain our ship. Bob did a great job finding the mackerel though. And to Tim's credit he did a great job filleting our mackerel at the dock. We will try someone else next time though.

I had never been on a charter before, so it was a little rough at first getting used to being on the boat, but the crew was nice and helped me with baiting up and taking fish off the hooks when I caught them. It was definitely a memorable experience, and I would have hated to do it without the crew's help.
