OK, Just got back from one of the most amazing days of my life thanks to Cap. Tom, first mate Lawrence and Marlin My Darlin. Rick who booked my bachelor party for the trip, was a breeze to work with and made special arrangements to accommodate our party. We headed straight out into the gulf stream and after about 30min getting there started to fish. Lawrence had 7 or 8 lines in the water at all times and Tom was constantly advising him on how to tweak the rig. They were a great pair. Well, the day started slow and it wasn't until about 2 hrs into our trip that we started hitting. 5 guys fishing, 5 guys pulled in fish and then the real fishing started. 3 big hits right in a row! The first two was actually one huge and apparently hungry fish that swallowed two hooks. My buddy and I had to reel that one in together. And then my best man was busy with his own fish. We'll we got the first fish over after it did three or four huge leaps and it ended up being a 54 inch dolphin fish, we had trouble fitting it in the cooler!! My best man caught a smaller one right after. Back on the dock Lawrence filleted the smaller fish for us and bagged the meat. He said that the bigger one was not as good eating and offered to drop it off at a soup kitchen on his way home. We went to the bahia restaurant right next door and they cooked us up the BEST fish dinner I have ever eaten. By far the whole experience was absolutely worth the money. Even when we had gone dry for the first have of the trip I had decided that it was well spend on account of how hard Tom and Lawrence were working, they also had no trouble burning gas the whole time looking for gas. I think that negative review was bogus and I'm SO FRICKING glad I ignored it. Marlin my Darlin absolutely ROCKS!!

I fished on the Marlin My Darlin in spring of 2010. I couldn't be more pleased with the trip we had and neither could all my buddies, there was 5 of us total. This was my second time on the Marlin My Darlin fishing charter. I had such a blast the year before I came back with some buddies. The first time was with my wife and kids and will say it was the perfect atmosphere for my young ones. Sometimes charter Captains can be a rough group so when bringing children you want to make sure you are on a boat with a respectable crew. The Marlin My Darlin crew was very respectable and my kids loved the boat.
Anyway we caught plenty of fish, every man had 2 go arounds. We caught baracude to wahoo with 4 sails. That was the target fish and guess which one of the five did not get a sailfish - that's right, me. But I did get a nice wahoo and got to keep that where my buddies all had to release their sailfish.
Well I just want to say I have been twice now, the first time only a few fish, the second time we loaded the boat. Either way it makes for a great and fun time on the water with family or friends. And assuming I can get a crew together next year we will be back fishing on the Marlin My Darlin again.
I would recommend chartering the Marlin My Darlin especially if you want to bring family with young kids. They will have a blast!
Bullshit! This boat sux! I am from florida and I went out on this boat with a few midwest buddies. They totally took advantage of the the fellas from out of town. They weren't at all concerned with putting us on fish as they were saving on gas. We didn't even go more than 6 miles out. AND...the mate used my legal kingfish that I caught as bait.....ummm....what if I wanted to eat that?
We trolled for several hours only several miles offshore with hardly any results. 6 guys caught 5 fish in 6 hours...2 peanut dolphins....1 kingfish (which again was used for bait...and not even offered the option of keeping)....2 small blackfin tuna (barely of size).
we paid over 1000 dollars for this. I can go out in my flats boat and do better than this. Bullshit. I would not reccomend this boat to anyone from out of the state as they will take advantage of you. If you have no knowledge of fishing....they will talk and talk that they will put you on fish and blame it on the fish not biting.
They even "supposedly" put us on a "reef", which was only like 3 miles out and drifted over it for about 20 minutes...."oh we didn't get a bite.....WHOOOOPS....we'll take your 1000 dollars"...bullshit
Another Ft Lauderdale BS boat. Don't fall for the taxidermy scam. You can buy a plastic fish for $300.
Good lord you didn't fish on the same boat I fished on. I fished on the Marlin My Darlin with Captain Rick Brady and I had an awesome day of fishing. And guess what if I only caught one king and 1 cuda I would not complain because you know what - That's the nature of Fishing! - If we all loaded the boat everytime it would not be called fishing, it would be called "Fishing in a Barrel." And it is obvious you don't know jack about Ft Lauderdale or Miami fishing because that is where the reef is, 3 or 4 miles out. Any farther and it drops to 1000 feet you ungrateful sissy. At 5 miles it is over 500 feet deep, not easy to fish the bottom without electric gear. Maybe you should stick to fishing the flats in two feet of water. From your whining it seems the only thing that went wrong is you did not catch fish. Sorry to say but that is fishing. And if they would have cut the king and caught 3 or 4 wahoo I promise you would not have said a word about eating that oily bastard at all. King Mackerel, oh what a delicacy you missed out on! 2 blackfin tuna barely of size? But they were of size right, so why you whining about that? Now you want the Captain to only hook you up with trophy fish. WOW. And I am from out of town and they had no idea if I had fishing knowledge or not. I had a great time and so did the other 5 guys in our crew. The Marlin My Darlin was . is a very professionally run Florida charter boat. Oh and while you were fishing 3 or 4 miles offshore did you happen to notice all the other charters in the same area? Because that is the draw to Fort lauderdale fishing, the fish are within 3 miles or so of the beach unless you want a wahoo then you go WAY offshore, like 5 miles. Woooo. I think I wrote so much because it just pisses me off to see a so called experienced angler whine because he didn't load the boat or didn't understand the nature of Fort Lauderdale fishing. You are NOT a good sport or sportsman, in fact you are a tit that whines like a little woman. What a shame. And the mounts are fiberglass, not plastic. And $300. is an excellent price, I paid $470. for my wahoo and could not be more pleased with it. I look at it everyday. It has brought me at least 10 times that is conversation with all the other cats I know.
No doubt Mr guy from Florida - you don't know jack shit about Fort Lauderdale fishing. 6 miles is WAY out for fishing in Fort Lauderdale. It's over 500 feet deep at that distance. As the other fella from Texas said, that is the draw of Ft Lauderdale fishing. And you are bitching about what you caught, that is the nature of fishing. And the reef you fishied is about 2 1/2 to 3 miles off the beach you numbnut. I too am pissed off at how stupid some so called fishermen can be. The Marlin My Darlin is a fine boat with a FINE Captain. It just goes to show there is always an asshole out there that no Captain and nobody can please. Sounds like you need a lesson in south Florida fishing and a lesson in good manners. If you were on my boat I would have put your unappreciative ass right out on the reef, like you said it was only 3 miles out, you might make it to shore. One more thing - 2 dolphin, 1 oily ass king and 2 tuna. What the fuck are you bitching about? If I was from the dry ass midwest I would be happy as hell to have such a fine day on the beautiful blue water. You Phil are a total PRICK!
