Good and very bad. I caught a fish! Yea! I have a rule when fishing. If I don't let it go, I must eat it that night. I will never waste the life of a fish.
The "Captain" of this rig would not let me keep my fish. It was a beautiful Dolphin fish (Mahi Mahi). He told me several lies to make me give up the fish.
1. There are no barbeques in Hawaii that are open to the public.
2. There are no restaurants that would cook it for you.
3. When I told him that my wife had found one he said that they would take your fish home and serve you whatever old stuff they had in the fridge.
4. He also said that freezing such a fish would be like turning filet mignon into a hot dog.
At the end of this conversation I asked what he did with the fish. Turns out they sell it. He said it was $150 fish. He said it keeps their prices low. I paid over $200 for the trip, the most I've ever paid for a half day trip.
There was no disclosure of their practice before I signed up. While there may not be anything illegal about it, it is certainly unethical. I would have much rather of let my fish go rather than add to the coffers of these liars.
If you want to keep your fish, avoid this overpriced scam.

I totally fell for you all about this skipper. I have fished all over the world and have never been told how to reel in a fish. I've caughted over 300 Marlin over the last 30 years and landed COUNTLESS tuna. As a matter of fact the picture of the largest catch on their web sie is me and my wife. The load of BS he told me about keeping the catch is not only a crime in Hawaii but someting a class A outfit would never condone! FISH CABO SAN LUCAS!
