Took my daughter fishing for Spring Break. She is 12. We had a great time...
First of all, we did not catch any fish. The water was a little cool and the fish just were not biting. So this may sound like a bad trip, but the guys aboard the TEXSUN II were fantastic.
We made 3 fishing trips in 2 days. All of these were 4 hour Bay and Jetti fishing trips. John, Jason and Mike were the deck hands and Captain John ran the boat. These guys are the greatest, I can't tell you how much we appreciated all of the attention these guys gave my daughter and I. I also want to mention the wonderful woman who ran the office...very friendly and very accomodating.
Just to tell you a little about the experience,
While leaving the harbor, Capt. John does a great job acting as a tour guide. He tells you about the boats and sites as you pass by them. Cruise Ships, Tankers, SeaWolf Park..etc. As you return to the harbor, Capt. John takes you by a special building..you won't want to miss this...very cool.
As Capt. John plays tour guide, John and Mike were on the back of the boat getting ready to drop a net to catch live bait. The first day, they brought up shrimp, small fish and a surprise, a puffer fish...other days included crab.
During all of the trips we saw a lot of dolphins...Capt. John made sure to point them out to everyone.
As I mentioned, fishing was a little rough, but John pulled a spare rod and reel out and hooked a big fish..he called my daughter over to pull it in, but the fish got stuck on some rocks and she lost it. She glowed the rest of the day with excitement...and asked if we could go again.
Jason ran the galley. We talked quite a bit...everytime he walked by my daughter, he'd puller her pony tail in a fun way...she loved the attention...
At the end of the last trip, I asked Jason if my daughter could go up and see the Captain...wow...My daugher melted..she got to sit in the captains chair and they made sure that I got my camera out to take pictures...
Well, to sum it up. We had a great trip and will be back sooner than later.
One last thing, I personally want to thank the crew of the TEXSUN II for everything they did for us...
For anyone who might be upset because they did not catch fish...for $25.00 you got a 4 hour boat ride, tour included, free gear and bait, and a great crew...what more can you ask for.
Capt. John, John, Jason, and Mike...Thank you from the bottom of my heart...
