Eagle Point Charters
Reviews
I booked two trips with Eagle Point Charters in 2011 and the trips had everything I was looking for and then some.
My first trip was a halibut charter and barbecue lunch. We anchored up in Burrows Bay and went to work with the rods. Before long there was a fish on and after a memorable battle the halibut was on the deck of the boat.
I had such a great time, I booked a salmon fishing trip in August. Again, Captain Stacey put us right on the fish.
Normally, I would not write a review to be posted on the Internet, but I felt I must speak up for this young man.
I found his boat to be immaculate and extremely organized. His knowledge of fishing and his expertise is phenomenal.
I whole heartedly endorse Eagle Point Charters and look forward to fishing with Captain Stacey again in 2012.
While visiting friends in Marysville last June, my friends talked me into going ling cod fishing with Eagle Point Fishing Charters.
It turned out to be a great day.
I've been fishing for ling cod before in British Columbia and ended up using rods heavy enough to catch halibut.
Eagle Point Charters specializes in drift mooching with lighter tackle (G Loomis salmon rods) for ling cod and bottom fish. This makes for a much more exciting and fun trip. Our group of three each got our keeper ling for the day and released many more.
The boat was a very comfortable fishing platform. The fishing gear was in great shape.
Overall, we had a wonderful day on the water catching fish and enjoying the beautiful scenery and wildlife in the San Juan Islands. In addition to the fish we caught, we saw seals, bald eagles, otters, and the island we were fishing next to had deer & mountain goats.
Eagle Point Charters is a great outfit.
I fished with Eagle Point Fishing Charters twice last summer.
Both days were great trips. Our group of six limited out on both days.
In August, we got 24 salmon including Chinook, sockeye, & pinks. In September, we got another 24 salmon including Chinook, Coho, & pinks.
Great boat with a huge fishing area. Quality equipment - GLoomis rods and Shimano reels.
Darrel is a great Captain.
Fishing with Eagle Point Fishing Charters is a great all around fishing experience.
I've been fishing with Darrell for 11 years now and highly recommend Eagle Point Fishing Charters for exceptional San Juan Island fishing trips.
My last trip was Friday February 17 fishing for blackmouth (resident feeder king salmon). I got one nice blackmouth that had to go back (winter salmon fishing requires wild fish to be released, but you can keep hatchery/fin-clipped kings).
I fished with Darrell again on Sunday February 26. Another great day of fishing. I landed another wild blackmouth that had to go back. Any day winter salmon fishing you land one is a great day.
It was a beautiful day on the water, but having a heated cabin to take a break from the snow was much appreciated. Darrell has the largest most comfortable boat in the Anacortes charter fishing fleet. You'll definitely appreciate this on days when the weather is challenging. Having a hot BBQ lunch was also great.
I highly recommend fishing with Eagle Point Charters.
Eagle Point Charters launching from Anacortes, Washinton is hands down the worst charter myself or friends have been on. The boat captain could not find fish if it hit him in the face. This company presents themselves well on their website. But the reality is they take you out as far as locals can paddle, anchor and tell stories of how great the fishing was for the last group. Six hours in the same spot without a target fish and a total of three scavenger fish in the boat between six men. For $800 you would expect the captain to take you to the fish and if that area was a bust... move to another area. Every previous charter I have taken from California to Washington has been able to produce a wonderful trip. Eagle Point Charter is the most unprofessional group out there. Please spend your hard earned money elsewhere.
I have to agree with Joe. Fishing, if you could even call it that, was so lame on this trip. The captain took us out, hooked up the rods, trolled around until he hooked a fish, set the hook, and would hand it off to someone. Not exactly my idea of fishing. As far as Daryl, the owner and captain, he was the most rude, condescending, puffed up, chip on his shoulder, asshole I've ever met. He insisted on calling me "Chief" to which I finally grew tired of and let him know about it, and he proceeded to argue with me the rest of the day. Instead of giving this guy your money throw it out the window, you'll feel better than I felt paying that asshole. He "caught" one silver and 7 humpys. I've spent my whole life fishing and this is one of the worst days I've spent on the water.
You dont know the half of it. Eagle Point Charters was able to make the news. You have to check this out and post it everywhere you can to save people the future headache of ever haveing to deal with this guy. http://www.kirotv.com/news/news/mans-history-customer-employee-complaints-runs-dee/nFNmm/
